Have you ever heard of molar uprighting? It is a situation where one of your molars comes in and then tips either towards the front of your mouth or back towards your throat, and needs to be corrected.
This could be due to another tooth not having erupted to hold this tooth in place, or even from an extracted tooth. When this tooth is brought back to an upright stance, it then needs to be held in place until it becomes firmly implanted in its spot. This may mean having a spacer put in place while the other tooth erupts, or having a bridge or implant in the location the other tooth was extracted from. Why You Want Your Molars UprightHaving even one molar that is at an odd angle can cause problems with your entire mouth. Instead of letting your bite change because of a tooth that is out of place, have us fix it. We can get it set up to where your molar gets set up to shift back to a vertical position, going back into the spot it was intended to be in all along. If your molar tips, it can cause pain in that tooth, as well as the teeth around it. It can push into surrounding teeth, plus it can cause the teeth on the opposing arch to hurt. It can make chewing and speaking difficult, and leave your mouth with pain that could otherwise be avoided. If you notice that one of your teeth is tipped or has become painful recently, come in and let us take a look. The sooner we are able to take a look at what is going on, the less time it will take to treat. Call our office today and schedule a time to come in and see us.
