Intraoral Camera
An intraoral camera is a great dental tool. We value its ability to help us educate, demonstrate and open the lines of communication with our patients. Using the intraoral camera allows us to show our patients in a very detailed manner the inside of their mouth. Our staff at Posh Dental, along with Dr. Gabriel have found that when we can be clear in our discussions, including possible treatment plans or the importance of daily oral hygiene, that our patients can become part of the conversation, with much greater understanding, and in the long run, they will have healthier mouths.
The intraoral camera provides high-resolution live video feed displaying images from the inside of your mouth. About the size of a toothbrush, the instrument is not overly intrusive or uncomfortable for the patient. Often described as a wand, the intraoral camera is equipped with a bright light allowing us to see all the nooks and crannies.
We, along with our patients, love having the Intraoral Camera. Besides being a camera it allows:
Better Ability for Us to See
The Intraoral camera comes with some incredible features that assist Dr. Gabriel with providing you even better care. Some of the features we like the best include:
• |
The intraoral camera comes with LED lighting providing a strong white light for a more true perspective. |
• |
The intraoral camera has strong magnifying capabilities, this allows us to zoom in on areas of interest. Problems that seem small can have large effects. |
• |
The intraoral camera comes with a head that rotates from 0 to 90 degrees, allowing us to see every angle. |
• |
The images displayed on the monitor near your chair are very clear, in high resolution, the images will never be grainy or blurry, you will know what you are seeing. |
• |
The intraoral camera allows us to take still photographs of problems we see. These images can be saved to your file, and emailed to other dental professionals as needed. |
A Better Way for Us to Engage With Our Patients
Dr. Gabriel understands that when the patient can see and understand, that they will feel more confident in the work that needs to be done. In the past, patients were subject to trusting their dentist's diagnosis, without much understanding, we don't want you just to trust us, we want you to be an active participant in the discussion. Studies have shown that when a patient has a strong comprehension of their health, which they will be healthier going forward. Our primary goal is to educate.
When we use the intraoral camera during your examination, you see exactly what we see. We can then point out potential problem areas or any issues, and then discuss them and possible treatment plans with you. You will feel more confident when making treatment decisions. Besides sharing images with other dental professionals, we can also share the images with you. You can request a printout of an image, take it home, and use it in your decision-making process. |
